Description

Men's Suede Horsebit Loafers in detail

This is the dressed-up end of the loafer range. The last runs long and narrow to a point rather than the rounded toe of a driving shoe, and the sole is slim enough to slide under a trouser break without bulking it out. It is a shoe for a wedding, a dinner, or an office where people notice shoes.

The upper is cow suede with a frosted finish — the nap is brushed short and even, which catches the light differently as the foot moves. A metal bit sits across the vamp and is the only ornament on the shoe. Inside, a cotton lining rather than the usual synthetic, which matters on a warm day, over a PU footbed. The outsole is rubber, thin, with just enough tread to stop the shoe skating on a polished floor.

  • Style: Pointed-toe bit loafer, slip-on
  • Upper: Cow suede, frosted finish
  • Toe: Pointed
  • Vamp: Metal bit detail
  • Lining: Cotton
  • Footbed: PU
  • Outsole: Rubber
  • Fastening: None, slip-on
  • Colourways: 2
  • Waterproof: No
  • Seasons: Spring and autumn
  • Wears well for: Weddings, business wear, formal occasions

Two colourways and they do very different jobs. Black is the formal one, and it is the one to buy if you are buying one. Ivory is a summer shoe, worn with pale linen or an unstructured navy suit, and it will show marks — that is the deal with a pale suede. This pair runs small and short. Take a full size up from your usual, and a size beyond that if your foot is wide. Brush the nap when it flattens, keep them dry, and use shoe trees if you have them, because a pointed last loses its shape faster than a round one. Browse the full Men's Loafers range.

Size & Fit

These loafers are true to size. Simply select your usual size. To measure your foot: place your heel against a wall and measure from the wall to the end of your longest toe, then allow approximately 1 cm of extra space.

  • UK 5.5 - EU 38 - 24 cm
  • UK 6 - EU 39 - 24.5 cm
  • UK 6.5 - EU 40 - 25 cm
  • UK 7 - EU 41 - 25.5 cm
  • UK 7.5 - EU 42 - 26 cm
  • UK 8 - EU 43 - 26.5 cm
  • UK 8.5 - EU 44 - 27 cm
  • UK 9 - EU 45 - 27.5 cm
  • UK 9.5 - EU 46 - 28 cm
  • Measurements are foot length, not shoe length. Stand with your heel against a wall, mark your longest toe, and measure between the two.
  • This style runs small and short: order one full size above your usual UK size.
  • Wide feet: add a further half size.

Care

Wipe with a soft, dry cloth after use. Avoid prolonged exposure to water and direct heat. Allow to air dry away from radiators, and store with a shoe tree or stuffing to help keep their shape.

Our story

Loafers Heritage started with a simple idea: one kind of shoe, done properly. No trainers, no boots — just loafers, chosen one pair at a time and stocked in every size we can get, delivered across the United Kingdom. Every pair has to earn its place on three points: the upper, the footbed and the sole.

Frequently asked questions

How should these loafers fit, and what size should I order?

They run true to size, so order your usual UK size. If you are between sizes or have a wider foot, size up. Not sure? Stand with your heel against a wall and measure from the wall to your longest toe, then match that length to your usual size.

Do they need breaking in?

Very little. The construction and cushioned insole feel comfortable from the first wear; you may notice the upper relax and mould to your foot over the first day or two.

Can I wear them without socks?

Yes. No-show socks keep the lining fresh without breaking the clean line of the shoe, which is ideal in warmer months. If you go sock-free often, rotating between pairs helps the lining last longer.

How do I care for them?

For suede, brush with a suede or crepe brush after wear and treat marks with a suede eraser rather than water. For leather, wipe with a soft cloth and use a matching conditioner now and then. A protector spray before first wear helps both. Store with a shoe tree, away from direct heat.

Are they waterproof?

No. Leather and suede are water-resistant at best. A protector spray helps them shrug off light rain; after a heavy soaking, let them dry naturally at room temperature, away from radiators or direct heat, with a shoe tree inside to hold their shape.

How long does UK delivery take, and how much is it?

Standard UK delivery is free on every order and takes 6 to 9 business days: 1 to 2 business days for order processing and 5 to 7 business days for transit. Your estimated delivery date is shown at checkout before you pay.

What is your returns and exchange policy?

We offer 30-day returns, and we pay the return postage. As long as your loafers are unworn, in resaleable condition and in their original box, you can send them back within 30 days of delivery. Email us and we send you a prepaid label — you have nothing to pay.
